When I was five years old, I made my first attempt at telling the untold story - “George Washington & the Fish.” And let me tell you, it was quite the page turner; my teacher told me so.

Since then, I've spent countless hours chasing that early success, spilling words onto the page as my way of finding my place in this big, beautiful, crazy world.

And where I found myself is right where I was meant to be all along ― shining a light on what makes this world beautiful and sharing the stories of the truly amazing people in our communities that help make it so.

To say I feel lucky to be here is an understatement.

Thanks for visiting. I hope you like what you see.

Essays on life:

Finding perspective

on this lovely, wild ride

through
flowers
&weed

This is me, finding perspective, putting words to my life experiences and throwing them out into the world to alight wherever they’re most needed.

The name - Through Flowers and Weed - comes from a poem by Keats, as it describes my view perfectly of cherishing the sweetness and navigating the wilds of this life.

My favorite part:

"And now, at once, adventuresome, I send my herald thought into a wilderness: there, let its trumpet blow, and quickly dress my uncertain path with green, that I may speed onward, through flowers and weed."

I just ask one thing from you: while I’m all for free speech and intellectual discourse, this is only about good vibes, so (and I say this with all the love and respect) if you don’t like what you read, please kindly move on. I feel no need to defend what I say and aim to only - hopefully - provide a perspective that can spread like wildflowers, not wildfire.

With that out of the way - Cheers! - to a FULL LIFE of finding beauty, through the flowers and the weed.

Testimonial

"When I consider possible writers, Renee always comes to mind with her crisp, concise writing, and her exceptional ability at working both sides of the ‘wall’ – she easily adheres to the hard-and-fast rules of newspaper writing, but possesses the mental flexibility to get creative when called for."
